JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title : Director of Meteorology
Position Reports to : Chief Operating Officer
Location : Remote - Must be willing to travel to Fargo, ND
Salary Range : $160,000 - $190,000 DOE
Primary Operational Objectives :
The Weather Modification International (WMI) Director of Meteorology position leads all aspects of the global Meteorology Department for the Company, including people and culture, strategy, customer affinity, program execution, and research and technology. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer of WMI, is a member of the WMI Leadership Team (WLT) and a member of the SFH Enterprise Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Essential Job Functions include :
Personnel Staffing and Skills : Ensuring the WMI Meteorology department has the necessary global people resources including the capacity, skill and talent development for current and future technology and contractual programs.
Culture : Contributing to the positive, One-Company culture growth at SFH Enterprise and WMI to drive talent development, talent retention and a best-place-to-work environment.
Strategy : Participating in the development and execution of the WMI Strategic Plan as a Company and developing and leading the global strategic plan initiatives for the WMI Meteorology Department to ensure the company maintains world-class cloud seeding meteorology technology development and program execution.
Face of the Company : Be visible externally to the Company across the global industry, through customer interactions, conferences, publications, industry committees / panels as a leader for the Company in Meteorology capability development and WMI cloud seeding market leadership.
Research : Identify and pursue meteorology technology research aligned with the Company's Strategic Plan and core capabilities to maintain WMI's world-renown leadership in cloud seeding capabilities.
Leverage Emerging Technologies : Integrate emerging technologies such as AI / ML-based modeling / post-processing, autonomous aerial systems, and advanced remote sensing into meteorological capabilities.
Policy and Regulatory Influence : Engage with regulatory bodies and industry groups to shape international standards for weather modification.
Sustainability and Climate Impact : Incorporate sustainability and climate change adaptation considerations into the strategic plan.
Program execution : Ensure personnel, equipment and operational functionality is available and executed to the customers and stakeholders' expectation for each Program of the Company.
Management : Manage and lead the personnel resources, budget, capital and investment needs of the business ensuring an achievable Annual Operating Plan (AOP) is executed.
Pre-project training will be provided.
Qualifications :
- Postgraduate degree in meteorology or related discipline.
- At least (15) years of experience in meteorological research, forecasting and operations.
- Cloud physics research experience for rain enhancement and hail suppression is preferred.
- Cloud seeding operational experience is preferred.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
