Business Development Manager Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the generation and execution of business development initiatives that support the Organization’s strategy and growth expectations. Primary duties of the Business Development Manager position include but are not limited to:
- Interfacing with current and future potential customers to understand value-driven solutions that can be realized by the Company’s current or future capabilities
- Utilizing the Company’s Business Development Process to manage new business opportunities and ensure an informed and timely decision-making process
- Generate cost-pricing analysis, business models and customer proposals that achieve on-time proposal submission to the customer
- Lead the cross functional pre-program Integrated Project Team for each opportunity to assign responsibility and ensure accountability of proposal actions
- Conduct presentations to customers, strategic partners and industry organizations to educate on the Company’s resources, expertise and solution-based capabilities
- Contribute to the Company’s strategic planning initiatives for continued growth and market leadership
- Update Company stakeholders on a recurring basis to discuss the new business opportunity pipeline, status major pursuits and achieve timely decision making for opportunity advancement
Skills and attributes of the Business Development Manager:
The Business Development Manager must have practical experience in business development activities gained through private or public company customer-facing roles that involve assessing programs and executing initiatives, including the following:
- Business acumen to evaluate the financial potential and performance of an opportunity
- Indirect team leadership skills
- Strategic and critical thinking skills to continuously develop and execute strategies
- Strong executive presence with written and verbal presentation skills
- Experience in the use of spreadsheets (Excel) and PowerPoint tools for internal and external dissemination
- Ability to work positively with a wide range of individuals involved in new business opportunities
- Cultural awareness and ability to work with customers, partners and fellow employees globally
- The ability and willingness to travel globally
- The ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems.
Position Attributes:
- Report to the WMI Chief Operating Officer
- Location based in Fargo, ND and/or Eden Prairie, MN
- Domestic and international travel required, up to 25% of time

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- 5 or more years of experience in a Business Development, Sales, Marketing or Program Management role, preferably with international customer account experience
- Aerospace experience is beneficial
