What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Assistant position at Weatherly Court?
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to drive community bus for outings and to support transportation needs of residents
- Maintain a clean and organized environment
- Conduct daily exercises at recommended times
- Daily implementation of activities according to the activity calendar and direction from the Social Coordinator
- Establish and maintain religious involvement through bible studies and pastoral interaction
- Work with Social Coordinator and individually with residents to provide personalized programs in crafts, recreation and hobbies
- Obtain information about the resident from the resident or family members and write up to use with photo in bio-board
- Keeps records of personal history and photo release for each resident
- Communicate with appropriate community departments when planning events that will take place in the community
- Conduct special events to celebrate resident birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and other special observances
- Assess interests and needs of residents by working closely with residents and their families
- Provide and maintain photos of all special events
- Maximize resident participation in programs and document activity attendance in department records
- Maintain all department equipment and supplies. Organize existing craft supplies and arrange neatly for easy identification
- Assist with daily hydration of residents and feeding of residents when necessary
- Put on appropriate music and keep the music playing through the day
- Escort the residents to and from activities and the beauty shop as needed
- Escort resident to the bus on bus outing days
- Pet care - inform Social Coordinator of any problems or changes
- Participate in health fairs or marketing presentations upon request
- Other duties as assigned

Special Demands:
- Must be in good physical and mental health. Must maintain ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Must possess an upbeat, positive, flexible, and enthusiastic personality and be congenial with fellow employees, residents, and the public at large.
- Must be an honest and dependable individual.
- Must maintain proper hygiene.
- Must be professional in dress and presentation.
- Must be willing to be active and on feet during entire work shift.
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in Standard English and use own judgment and initiative in daily activities.
- Must be a mature individual. Must possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
- Must have strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Must be detail and teamwork oriented.
- Must possess a current CPR/First Aid certificate and update as needed.
- Must attend required in-services/ workshops to further education of skills and community requirements.
- Must be Drug free and submit to Urinary Analysis Drug screening upon hire.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire and as required by state regulations.
- The employee shall be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Fields Senior Living.
