The Role: Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the College Advocate & Community Educator is responsible for providing support, information, advocacy, and resources to students in the Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD), which serves the greater Sacramento area. Duties include facilitating sexual and domestic violence prevention education and outreach to the designated university and to the community, coordinating prevention volunteers and community fair/tabling requests, conducting campus awareness events at the college/university, and providing prevention education in the community for all ages and groups. This position is also tasked with assisting in the facilitation of training for agency staff, which includes WEAVE 101, Peer Counselor Training (PCT), and Continuing Education (CE).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field is required.
- Prior experience working in crisis intervention and with survivors of trauma, including sexual assault and domestic violence.
- Prior public speaking experience.
- Knowledge of prevention education strategies and domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion work.
- Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the WEAVE mission and values.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and high degree of professionalism.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability and flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for outreach events.
- Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour peer counselor training program and pass background check (post-hiring requirement).
- Annual completion of WEAVE’s continuing education requirements to maintain Peer Counselor certification.
- Valid California Driver’s license and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance.
Compensation: The starting wage range for this position is $24.46 - $27.89.
