Position Summary: The Coordinator primary drives WEAVE’s multi-year Rape Prevention Education Demonstration Project funded through the California Department of Public Health. This role involves utilizing a coalition-building approach to improve community environments and transform gender norms for LGBTQ youth in the South Sacramento area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health, community organizing, and gender studies, with a passion for creating safer, more equitable communities. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the rape prevention education project. Work closely with the funder, technical assistance providers, and designated consultants to ensure project plans and activities meet best practices and align with funder requirements.
  • Coalition Building: Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and local leaders to foster a collaborative approach.
  • Community Engagement: Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to raise awareness and educate on rape prevention and gender norms.
  • Program Development: With funder approval, design educational materials and programs that address rape prevention education within the focus population and community, and promote healthy, respectful relationships.
  • Data Management: Collect, analyze, and report on project data to assess effectiveness and inform future initiatives.
  • Training: Based on funder approval, develop, and provide training and support to coalition members and community partners on best practices in prevention education work, including gender norm transformation, and develops the capacity of partners to advocate for policy change in their community.
  • Communication: With funder approval and consistent with Agency brand guidelines, develop and disseminate appropriate communication materials such as newsletters, social media content, and public awareness campaigns to promote project activities and outcomes.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Regularly attend agency and department meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Comply with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to those regarding documenting services provided, daily and accurate timekeeping, attendance, completion of required continuing education requirements and any other agency policies.
  • On occasion and in collaboration with other identified staff members, provide support and assistance with approved prevention, education, and outreach activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination, community organizing, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of gender norms and rape prevention education strategies.
  • Passionate about reducing sexual violence and community empowerment approaches.
  • Empathetic and culturally sensitive.
  • Proactive, self-directed and solution oriented.
  • Ability to work some evenings or weekends, as needed, for program implementation. 
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour training and certification program and maintain Continuing Education hours. 
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance. 
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check.

Work environment is primarily a busy office setting in a two-story building with stairs and an elevator. Local travel (driving) will be required to conduct meetings and other activities at various area locations. Employees may need to move around and between floors, occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs., or reach items above their head, below their waist, or stored in/on drawers and shelves.  Employees may also need to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, write reports, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines.  Communicate clearly and concisely to others.  Apply above average reasoning and attention to detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
