Summary: The Recruiting Specialist is principally responsible for all recruitment activities with core duties including sourcing candidates, screening resumes and conducting initial interviews. An interest in gaining experience in other areas of HR will be welcomed.
Essential Functions:
Recruiting
- Administer recruitment process in HRIS—ADP.
- Assist in drafting and posting open positions internally and externally.
- Conduct initial screening.
- Handle communication with applicants.
- Schedule candidate interviews with the hiring manager.
- Send rejection letters/emails to unsuccessful candidates.
- Conduct reference checks as needed.
- Compile data reports for HR Metrics.
Employee Onboarding
- Ensure that all background checks, references, fingerprinting and other required documentation are completed.
- Prepare and distribute new employee orientation materials.
- Coordinate with manager and operations team to deliver an exceptional first-day experience.
Employee Files/HRIS Database maintenance
- Create and maintain employee personnel files in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Coordinate with the finance department to ensure accurate processing of payroll.
- Process necessary employment paperwork.
- In partnership with HR Generalist, assist employees and volunteers with routine department inquiries.
- As interest and opportunity permit, may assist with benefits management, payroll, and employee engagement activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Advanced skills working with MS Office, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
- Work effectively with all levels of staff and outside sources in the completion of work-related duties.
- Satisfactory results from DOJ background check (post-employment offer requirement).
Education and Experience
- Two (2) years of related human resources experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or another related field a plus
