Project Engineer - Industrial Water Permitting
Weaver Consultants Group is seeking a Junior to Mid-level Project Engineer with experience in industrial water permitting and environmental compliance regulations to join our Environmental Permitting/Compliance Group in Chicago, IL. The qualified must have 5-10 years of professional experience with the below environmental activities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare various construction and operating water permit applications, for projects in accordance with applicable local, state, and/or federal agency water regulations or standards.
- Review and evaluate local, state, and federal regulation applicability. Demonstrated understanding of local, state, and federal water quality regulations and specific knowledge of applicable pre-treatment standards.
- Prepare, review, and submit regulatory reports and routine compliance reports as required by permits and applicable regulations.
- Knowledge or experience with industrial wastewater treatment, design and permitting.
- Industrial point source and industrial activity storm water NPDES permitting.
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan development, implementation, and training.
- Assist clients with permitting strategy and developing pathways to continuous compliance, corrective action, and/or enforcement activities.
- Assist clients with routine and/or non-routine water quality sampling and inspections and provide training support as needed.
- Communicate with clients and regulators as appropriate.
- Support preparation of proposals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or other advanced degree in Environmental/Chemical/Civil Engineering.
- PE licensure.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, focused on water permitting and pre-treatment design.
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and an understanding of the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office 365.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate and work effectively in a team setting.
- Limited travel and ability to work independently in a remote work situation when needed.
- Excellent attention to detail and completeness.
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks with firm deadlines, sometimes deadlines could be simultaneous.
- Experience with other environmental regulatory programs including air, general environmental compliance, solid and hazardous waste management, and environmental due diligence is a plus.
- Commissioning and start-up experience preferred.
