Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Parts & Service Manager to oversee the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of parts within our organization and to our retail customers. You will also be responsible for managing our trailer service department's day to day operations, scheduling the service repairs, and overseeing incoming new trailer arrivals. The ideal candidate will possess strong trailer mechanical knowledge, experience in supplier management and service management. They will be responsibe for sourcing parts efficiently and certifying that those parts meet the quality standards required for our operations, and that the service schedule is maintained to take care of our customers. This role is crucial in maintaining the flow of materials necessary for equipment repair and operational efficiency, along with the smooth scheduling of service repairs and new load arrivals.
Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing process for parts, including sourcing from OEMs and negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.
- Maintaining the parts department organization and stocking the display shelves.
- Manage the day to day service schedule and repairs in the service center
- Quote and provide repair estimates on customers trailers.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained to prevent delays in operations.
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for tracking inventory, ordering parts, invoicing parts and service repair jobs.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving of parts, ensuring timely delivery and accurate documentation.
- Perform data entry tasks related to inventory & service records and supplier transactions.
- Collaborate with suppliers to assess parts needs for trailer repair and maintenance activities.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards.
- Train and supervise staff involved in parts management processes as we add to our team.
Requirements
- Proven experience in parts & service management or a similar role within a trailer mechanical or trailer manufacturing environment.
- Strong trailer mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical specifications of parts.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and data entry practices.
- Experience with supplier management and negotiation skills to secure best pricing and terms.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes related to parts procurement.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
