Driver Support Supervisor This role serves as the main driver support resource and handles personnel management for the Webb Transportation Department including all driver coaching, mentoring, counseling, and discipline. The role is expected to be the knowledge base expert pertaining to all work that Webb drivers complete regarding LTL, Bulk, and Purchasing runs. This role is also the main driver trainer and driver coach for training new drivers, retraining drivers, and conducting post-incident training. The position is responsible for all driver related duties, behaviors, standards, efficiency, and adherence to Webb’s Work Instructions.This role is responsible to ensure activities, systems, and processes are maintained and all operations are done in manner that meets aspects of “Webb’s Quality and Environmental Commitment.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: Webb Hazmat Drivers (All Sites)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as the primary contact for all drivers and their work on a daily basis including customer issues, driver issues, equipment issues/breakdowns, incidents, accidents/collisions, quality alerts/quality reports, etc.
- Manages drivers as a Servant Leader - helps Webb drivers where needed and coaches drivers to be problem solvers as well
- Accountable for driver’s performance and activities while being responsible for Driver coaching, mentoring, counseling, and discipline as needed
- Pre/Post Trip monitoring to ensure drivers are following a thorough and complete operation
- Work directly with sales on LTL and Bulk delivery forms to ensure drivers have all the necessary information to be successful and safe during customer deliveries
- Axle weight monitoring to ensure trucks are not overweight
- Embrace technology – recommend solutions that implement tech to focus on continuous improvement
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting all CSA violations and ensure that drivers are compliant
- Assist with setting annual goals that challenge drivers to be more efficient, operate safer, and embody the culture that Webb is striving for
- Performing Bulk Site Visits as needed
- Monthly monitoring of all credit card transactions for drivers – research, approvals, missing information, etc.
- Backup for all time off payroll duties (vacation time, PMLA, and other necessary HR functions)
- Samsara/ELD Responsibilities
- Monitor and investigate ALL Harsh Events- convert to Webb Incident Report
- Monitor Samsara/ELD for ongoing negative driver behaviors/performance
- Assist with all accident and incident investigations driving to root cause and preventative corrective action
- Responsible for monitoring/updating the Webb Disciplinary Matrix
- Primary responder for all Webb Incident Reports, Quality Reports, Internal Observations, Quality Alerts pertaining to Webb Transportation
- Monitor all Samsara Harsh Events utilizing the external camera system, making decisions to convert to Webb Incident Reports as needed
- Attendance to any/all Webb meetings is mandatory
- Assist with promoting/embodying an Open Door Policy for our employees and co-workers at all times, unless confidentiality is required
- Completing a daily Transportation email summary for Ops Management of important highlights
- Complete special projects as needed
- Monitoring attendance issues and addressing appropriately
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, AND SAFETY
- Contribute to compliance for safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements applicable to Webb’s operation ISO
- Responsible for compliance and documentation for Webb Chemical operations and update as needed
EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience in Transportation, Personnel Management, or Hazmat Driving Experience (5 years)
- CDL A License (Hazmat and Tanker endorsement)
- TWIC Card (Or ability to obtain one)
- Prior experience in a Transportation/Driver supervision role with similar duties performed
- Understanding of DOT requirements pertaining to CDL-A Hazmat Drivers
- Proven leader that can cultivate and embody a culture based on accountability and personal responsibility in conjunction with Webb’s vision
- Ability to hold Transportation staff accountable and enforce company policies
- Solid judgement along with decision-making skills
- Use of personal protective equipment as required by customer sites for training
- Understand and follow procedures/work instructions and hold employees accountable who choose not to
- Good housekeeping and organizational skills
- Knowledge base expert for all drivers – experienced in LTL, Bulk, and Purchasing runs and the many details that go along with them
- Ability to think clearly under pressure and embrace constant change in plans
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possesses understanding and application of change management practices
- Strong team player and leader with ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines

WORK SCHEDULE
- Working hours intended to be 9 hours/day with all work being completed
- Monday-Friday between 6/7am and 3/4pm - TBD (Flexibility is required due to driver ride-a-longs and training, this will require occasional attendance before 6am and after 5pm)
- Hours could change at management discretion
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Weekend and After Hours – as needed
- Lunch: 11am-12pm (Flexible – Need to Cover for the Integrated Transportation Planner)
- Out-of-town: trips to other branched, suppliers, customers, trainings, and conferences will be pre-planned and frequent This description is an effort to outline the responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to all the above and any additional responsibilities as assigned by Management.
