Job Description : Operate a Motor Grader to conduct finish grade work on new roads and highways.
Essential functions and responsibilities :
- Operate motor graders, some equipped with GPS and Laser Controlled Grading System
- Perform finish grade work to bluetops or other close specification control. This work is subject to strict inspection and must conform closely to specifications.
- Perform maintenance work to motor grader including oiling, greasing, and making necessary adjustments to equipment.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and / or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Gain the respect of others by being fair, honest, reliable, and hard working.
- Other unlisted duties will be assigned
Requirements :
Safety Policies and Practices : The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company's safety policies and procedures as described in the company's safety manual.
Education : High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
Experience : five or more years of heavy highway and civil construction experience as a Finish Blade Operator or Motor Grade Operator preferred.
Physical Activity Level : Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive / technical nature.
Manual Dexterity : Manual dexterity sufficient to reach / handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
Working Conditions : Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)
