What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Webcor Builders?
Contracts: Assists with drafting, review, and negotiation of construction subcontracts and purchase agreements, along with overseeing implementation of master services agreements with subcontractors/vendors.
Subpoenas and discovery: Manages incoming subpoenas and coordinates with other departments to identify, gather, and prepare documents for production; works with legal counsel (in-house and external) to manage electronic and physical document harvesting, organization, and productions for litigation and arbitration matters.
Regulatory compliance: Assists in tracking and managing compliance with contractor licensing application and renewal requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
Legal Department document management: Oversees the maintaining and updating of internal legal filings and organization for all contracts and other project-related legal documents within the Enterprise Document Management system, along with the development of templates and company Best Practices.
General legal support: Assists with day-to-day Legal Department operations including handling and triaging general internal legal inquiries, coordinating meetings, and otherwise liaise with project teams and other internal departments to ensure legal matters are addressed in a timely manner.
Insurance: Assists with obtaining, maintaining and distributing copies of insurance policies, coordinates directly with insurance broker and internal Insurance Risk Management (IRM) Team as needed, assists with the preparation and submission of insurance applications and requests for information.
Bonds: Coordinates with the bond broker and project teams for issuance of bid bonds and payment & performance bonds.
Claims: Performs internal claim investigations, interviews fact witnesses, coordinates with defense and/or coverage counsel, obtains, assembles and assists in the production of documents or requests for information, places carriers on notice of claims, coordinates appointment of defense counsel (as needed) and drafts tender letters.
Other special projects as assigned.

Ability to understand business and operations needs and partner with project-level employees and company executives to develop creative strategies and solutions.
Strong written and verbal communications skills. Able to communicate positively, effectively and efficiently with members of internal teams, outside public and private development clients, and outside counsel.

Time management and prioritization abilities.
Proven ability to deal with ambiguity while exhibiting strong problem-solving abilities. Possesses a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
Excellent organizational skills.
Associate's degree in paralegal studies or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Paralegal certification from an accredited organization (e.g., NALA or NFPA) is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Paralegal, preferably with a focus on AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) law, contracts, and/or commercial litigation.
Litigation and transactional/corporate/compliance experience preferred.
Experience in the construction industry or working with construction-related legal matters is highly desirable.
Range of base pay is $43/hr-$51/hr. Actual pay is based on individual skill level and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSPerformance of the required duties will require physical ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk, generally up to 5 hours per day, and standing and walking. Repetitive motion using hands with constant keyboarding and physical use of vision to read computer monitors and paper documents. Regularly required to use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine). Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and lift up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.
