Purpose Statement
The job of Aide was established for the purpose / s of providing for the safety and welfare of students during non classroom activities;
minimizing the frequency or severity of harmful incidents; and communicating observations and / or incidents that may impact a general well being of students and school personnel.
Essential Functions
- Facilitates games among students (e.g. hands out equipment, balls, etc.) for the purpose of providing age appropriate activities.
- Intervenes in potential emergency situations for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of activities and / or injury to involved students.
- Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, cafeteria, etc.
for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.
Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.
for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and / or administrative personnel.
Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
Purpose Statement
TSSA Aide was established for the purpose of assisting assigned teaching personnel in a classroom. This will involve working with the others to support the planning of instruction and supervision of students;
performing classroom clerical tasks; and assisting students in preparing for daily tasks through development of social, emotional, physical, moral and intellectual skills.
Essential Functions
- Assists in planning and incorporating intentional and differentiated instruction in whole group, small group, and child-directed learning aligned with all of the developmental domains and academic content areas defined in the Utah Early Childhood Standards for the purpose of improving students’ academic success.
Assists in maintaining students’ files / records for the purpose of documenting activities and / or providing reliable information.
- Monitors individual students, classroom activities, etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in ongoing, focused, and intensive professional development for the school readiness program.
- Assists other personnel as may be needed for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Assists in planning and incorporating family engagement, including ongoing communication between home and school, and parent education opportunities based on each family’s circumstances.
- Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and / or administrator in providing records / materials.

2. Must be able to operate equipment used in playground activities; and adhering to safety practiced; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
3. Must have knowledge of age appropriate activities; safety practices and procedures and stages of child development.
4. Must be able to communicate with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; and working with constant interruptions.
Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Not limited to the following :

Education : High School diploma or equivalent
