Job Summary:
The Elementary Education Director plays a crucial role in shaping the educational journey of our elementary-aged students. This leadership position involves close collaboration with all district departments to ensure the successful staffing of schools with both certified and classified employees, as well as the implementation of key initiatives such as Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Additionally, the role emphasizes the development of leadership among administrators, the professional growth of various employee groups, and the effective resolution of concerns from parents, the community, and staff. The Elementary Education Director also facilitates the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to meet the diverse needs of students and oversee curricular programming at the elementary level. A critical aspect of the role is fostering safe, healthy, and supportive school cultures across the district. Key Responsibilities of the Elementary Education Director:
- District-Wide Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with district departments to align educational goals and policies with the district’s vision for elementary education.
- Foster interdepartmental partnerships to ensure cohesive and effective elementary education strategies.
- School Leadership Development
- Lead the professional development and leadership growth of school administrators.
- Mentor, support, and provide feedback to aspiring leaders, shaping the leadership landscape across the district’s elementary schools.
- Ensure that the strategic focal areas, priorities, and goals of WSD are being implemented with fidelity in our elementary schools.
- Staffing and Human Resources Management
- Oversee the equitable staffing of elementary schools, ensuring both certified and classified employees are well-placed and supported.
- Collaborate with human resources on recruitment, retention, and performance management strategies for elementary school personnel.
- Instructional Leadership and Program Implementation
- Guide the development and implementation of curricular programming in elementary schools, ensuring alignment with state and district standards.
- Lead the implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Student Support Systems
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to address students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Ensure the successful integration of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to create a positive school culture.
- Professional Development
- Design and implement professional development initiatives for teachers, support staff, and administrators to enhance instructional quality and student outcomes.
- School Climate and Culture
- Foster the development of safe, healthy, and inclusive school cultures across all elementary schools.
- Promote equitable practices that support diversity, inclusion, and student well-being.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Issue Resolution
- Serve as a key point of contact for addressing concerns from parents, community members, and district personnel related to elementary education.
- Facilitate collaborative problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Data-Driven Decision Making
- Use data to monitor school performance, identify trends, and inform decision-making on instructional practices and school improvement initiatives.
- Policy Development and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district policies, including regulations related to secondary education, special education, and equity initiatives.
- Succession Planning and Recruitment
- Identify and develop future school and district leaders through mentoring, professional learning opportunities, and leadership programs.
- Manage transitions in leadership roles, ensuring smooth successions that maintain continuity in school and district operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience as a school principal and/or in a district-level director, assistant director, or supervisor role.
- Administrative/supervisory certification is required.
- Proven leadership skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable learning environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
- Knowledge of current educational trends, policies, and best practices.

Work Environment:
The Elementary Education Director position is based at the Weber School District Office with occasional travel to departmental offices and schools across the district. District-level leadership roles may require extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet deadlines or respond to urgent matters.
