Job Summary/Basic Function
Looking for a chance to really impact students’ lives and their future in higher education at Weber State? Come teach with the Wildcat Scholars program; realize purpose and discover inspiration in our students!
Part-time adjunct instructor for Wildcat Scholars First-Year Seminar class, Introduction to Social Issues in Higher Education, UNIV 1110 (Soc Sci Gen Ed 3cr) or UNIV 1107 Design Your Weber (2cr). Teach or co-teach one section per semester as needed. Courses are a seminar format with substantial large and small group discussions, readings, guest lecturers, with writing and reflection activities. Students in UNIV 1110 participate in Community Engaged Learning (CEL) as part of the course. Intensive student support and collaboration with other cohort instructors is expected. Instructors should plan to spend 4-5 hours per week during regular work hours for teaching, office hours and cohort collaboration. This does not include time spent outside of regular work hours for preparation and grading.
Summer training is required and compensated. Courses are primarily offered fall semester, mid-day and on WSU Ogden or Davis Campus.

Required Qualifications
Masters degree or higher in Social Science discipline, Education, Counseling or related field required for teaching UNIV 1110.
Bachelors degree or higher in any discipline is required for teaching UNIV 1107.
One year of Weber State University employment.
Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing first generation, low income students from all backgrounds.
Ability to motivate and inspire students, and develop meaningful connections with students.
