Job Summary/Basic Function
This is a full-time, twelve-month position, which reports to the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services. This position assists in administering Weber State University (WSU) Athletics Department’s comprehensive academic and developmental programs to student-athletes. This position also works closely with the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services to help oversee the implementation and coordination of all Athletics Department academic programs and will act as the Director in the absence of the Director Student-Athlete Academic Service. This position will serve as the tutor coordinator and will have direct oversight of all tutors and mentors and will assist in managing class checking, communication with professors, and monitoring/documenting student-athlete academic progress.
In addition to the administrative duties previously described, this position also fulfills all duties of an Academic Coordinator. Those duties include: coordinating and monitoring the admissions process for new student-athletes for assigned sports; coordinating and monitoring pre-registration each semester for assigned sports; maintaining team rosters and continuing eligibility checklists for assigned sports; communicating academic status of student-athletes to the respective coaches in a timely fashion; verifying all academic eligibility certification requirements according to institutional, Big Sky Conference, and NCAA rules; compiling semester academic summaries on assigned sports; and serving as an additional liaison to related campus offices.

In accordance with the principles of NCAA rules compliance, it is understood that any employee who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Two years of experience that includes academic advising and NCAA Division I collegiate compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Seeking applicants with knowledge of NCAA rules (especially those pertaining to academic eligibility).
- Demonstrates outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with staff, faculty, coaches, student-athletes, and administrators.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work in a time-sensitive and occasionally pressured environment.
- Possess an attitude that fosters a respectful, non-threatening workplace environment.
- Ability to accept a flexible work schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Work effectively with a variety of individuals and organizations.
- Demonstrate an extreme attention to detail.
- Must be able to organize tasks and set priorities.
- Must have total commitment to the adherence of NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and Institutional regulations.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A Master’s degree
- Previous experience as an academic advisor in a NCAA Division I collegiate athletics setting.
