Job Summary/Basic Function
The Division of Online & Continuing Education at Weber State seeks a motivated, well-organized individual to write and edit engaging content to engage lifelong learners and an array of on-campus and off-campus partners. The content will be used for websites, print materials, emails, digital ads, podcasts, billboards and radio, among other assets.

- Working independently or with the team to create both external and internal marketing materials.
- Researching, writing and editing copy that will be used in various forms of advertising and communications.
- Meeting with clients to understand the intended audience and the marketing goals that need to be communicated.
- Presenting ideas to clients and modifying them based on feedback provided.
- Writing, editing and managing the Community Education course catalog creation process.
- Managing digital ad and billboard campaigns.
- Other writing/editing duties within DOCE as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, English, journalism, marketing, or related field required.
- One year of copywriting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Seeking applicants with:
- Strong writing skills, including writing for higher education.
- The ability to quickly switch voice and tone to match varying audiences.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to contribute to a team effort.
- Editing skills, including an excellent understanding of grammar, punctuation and information organization.
- Ability to follow the WSU Writing Style Guide and knowledge of The Associated Press Stylebook.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time-management skills.
- Experience using a content management system and email clients.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Newsletter writing/editing.
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft programs.
- Experience using a project management tool such as Asana.
- Familiarity with web coding languages like HTML and CSS.
- Familiarity with web and email analytics to understand and improve user experience.
