Job Summary/Basic Function
The Miller Advanced Research and Solutions (MARS) Center is a new facility managed by Weber State University with the mission to develop new manufacturing and inspection technologies for advanced composite structures for high temperature and harsh environments.
The MARS team is looking for a seasoned operations leader with significant experience in advanced manufacturing technologies, process design for reliability, continuous improvement, people and project management. This leader will support the ground up development of a world class operations space, including establishing a 5S and visual workplace culture, calibration and preventative maintenance processes, and an innovative and responsive culture. This leader will also support the development of a continuously learning project management system that includes FMEA, Controls Plans, Budget & Cost Control, etc. Teamwork and collaboration with MARS Center personnel and supporting students and faculty will be a key function of the position.
Required Qualifications
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) program from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 10 years equivalent experience in an operations role
- Minimum of 10 years in a leadership position in a manufacturing setting that requires heightened levels of process and quality control
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing systems such as 5S, FMEA, Process Control Plans, Visual Workplace, and Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Systems
- US Citizenship (for support of Department of Defense Contracts)
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- Masters in Business Administration
- Experience in planning, developing, and managing projects.
- Experience in composite materials manufacturing, non-destructive evaluation (NDE), composite materials testing, x-ray computed tomography (CT), ultrasonic testing, image analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related areas.
