What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leave Specialist position at Weber State University?
The Leave Specialist will report to, and work closely with, the Leave Coordinator to administer campus-wide leave requests and accommodations, particularly those associated with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Workers Compensation. With the help of the Leave Coordinator, the Leave Specialist will handle the FMLA leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. In addition, this position will be responsible for Worker's Compensation claims as well as the intake of new ADA accommodation requests, and requesting medical information from providers. This individual will also have responsibility for other administrative tasks related to leave such as : entering FMLA leave hours; monitoring FMLA usage and communicating balances with supervisors and employees; organizing digital records; sending follow-up communication to both supervisors and employees; and navigating the return-to-work process.This position will also be expected to learn Weber State policies and processes related to leave and help employees in navigating and understanding those policies.Required QualificationsRequired :
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years related experiencePreferred QualificationsPreferred :
- Related experience that includes FMLA, ADA, or Worker's Comp intake
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cloud storage
