Job Summary/Basic Function
Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to assist with research projects in energy engineering. The Research Assistant will support ongoing work related to energy systems modeling, energy audits, and sustainable energy technologies. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applied energy research and contribute to real-world solutions in industrial energy efficiency and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with data collection, entry, and analysis from energy audits and laboratory experiments
- Conduct literature reviews on topics such as renewable energy integration, energy storage, and energy efficiency technologies
- Support simulation and modeling of thermal and electrical energy systems using software tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, Python, or others as needed)
- Participate in lab setup, equipment calibration, and experimental testing
- Help prepare technical reports, presentations, and visual materials for research dissemination
- Attend regular meetings with the research team and assist in project planning
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Current enrollment in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field
- Interest in energy systems, renewable energy, or energy efficiency
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Experience with data analysis and technical writing
- Familiarity with basic programming and modeling tools is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
