Job Summary
The Facilities Assistant Manager supports the Facilities Manager in overseeing the facility’s daily preventative/corrective maintenance while prioritizing a safe work environment. They ensure the proper operation of all company-owned assets such as material handling equipment, automated conveyors, packaging equipment, HVAC units, lighting & electrical systems, plumbing and general maintenance of shared office areas, including any capital improvements. The Facilities Assistant Manager maintains an understanding of operational protocols, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the DC and help the Facilities Manager problem-solve challenges presented by employees and members of the leadership team. They also help oversee the general cleanliness and sanitation of the facility via a custodial team.
We offer a base salary rage up to $80,000 annually based on experience.
SHIFT SCHEDULE
- Thursday from 2:00 PM to 8:00PM, Friday-Sunday 6:00PM to 6:30AM
Responsibilities

Operational
o Assists with the management and training of facilities/maintenance employees to fulfil the needs of the department on all shifts. This includes preventative and corrective maintenance, cleaning and sanitation, and general capital improvements to the facility.
o Provide guidance and recommendations to building management regarding updates or changes related to increasing the efficiency or effectiveness of the operation.
o Well versed in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and Arc Flash requirements, assisting in ensuring team members are properly trained and follow all Safety guidelines.
o In collaboration with the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant Manager will:
- Provide guidance and recommendations to building management regarding updates or changes related to increasing the efficiency or effectiveness of the operation.
- Manage facilities and maintenance budgets to achieve financial goals.
- Collaborate with operations to schedule critical equipment downtime to perform maintenance ensuring efficient and effective flow of the systems necessary to meet customer demand and operational metrics.
- Maintain our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the completion of time/meter-based preventative maintenance checklists and corrective actions on all building equipment and assets needed for the facility's operation.
- Maintain spare parts inventory, through the CMMS, keeping accurate counts to reduce downtime and assist in cost analysis of operation.
- Coordinate response to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Facilitate the repair and maintenance of conveyor belts/automation within the facility to a high degree of excellence, ensuring a smooth operation on all shifts.
- Obtain estimates for the supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.
- Has knowledge of general building maintenance and repair to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry.
- Supervise replacement and addition of warehouse pallet racking when necessary, ensuring proper anchoring and adherence to safety measures.
- Complete weekly, quarterly & annual tests on fire suppression and related monitoring equipment
- Organize the repair of items under warranty from the manufacturer.
o Other duties as assigned.

o Collaborate with the leadership team within the building to meet the needs of the DC and foster a team mentality.
o Work with the Facilities Manager and Team Leads to create development plans for employees to maintain engagement and develop a leadership bench.

o Serve as a leader not only for the assigned department, but for the entire distribution center, holding peers, managers and employees accountable to expectations.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a maintenance or facilities environment; forklift certification preferred.
Education
- Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair, including HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, etc.; including use of power tools, reading schematics, blueprints, and instructions.
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
