The Town of Webster is seeking candidates for a part-time Van Driver for the 55 Activities Program who will be responsible for transporting older adult passengers to and from the Webster Recreation Center. In this position, you will be expected to operate our passenger van in a safe and efficient manner and provide exceptional customer service to older adult passengers. Experience with older adults in a professional setting is a plus.
Schedule is year-round. Split shift, morning and afternoon. Total of 3 hours per day. Currently 2 days per week Tuesdays & Thursdays plus occasional 1-2 additional days/month. There is potential for additional days and hours.
Typical Duties: (including but not limited to)
- Passenger transport: Pickup and drop-off (2-10) older adult Webster residents in our van from their homes and bring them to/from the Webster Recreation Center.
- Customer Service: Greet passengers, assist them into and out of van.
- Split Shift: Morning pickup route time is approximately 8:30-10:00am. Afternoon return home route time is approximately 12:30-2:00pm.
- Route navigation: Follow routes to/from Webster residences to/from Webster Recreation Center, adjust as needed based on traffic conditions. Thursday includes a stop for groceries on the way home.
- Flexibility: Additional field trips (1-2/month) to be determined on an on-going basis. Potential for regular schedule to expand to more days and hours per week.
- Safety: Observe all traffic laws and ensure passenger safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clean driving record.
- Experience with older adults in a professional setting.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Friendly cheerful demeanor.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow geographic directions.
- Time management skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Class D driver license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to assist passengers with loading and unloading from van.
