What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Safety Officer position at Webster University?
Provides basic security and protection of persons and University buildings within the University community, including fire safety and emergency response. Reports to the Public Safety Supervisor.
- Serves as first responder to calls-for-service from students, faculty, staff and visitors concerning criminal or civil complaints, maintenance problems, safety situations, alarms sounding, etc.
- Provides access control for buildings and other properties.
- Handles special event details, money pick-ups, etc.
- Enforces parking regulations and provides traffic direction/control.
- Provides crime prevention foot patrols; inspects University property for safety hazards and reports identified hazards by way of incident report and/or University work order.
- Provides personal escorts; responds to inquiries and requests for information.
- Documents relevant incidents in the Public Safety report writing system.
- Coordinates with local police and emergency medical services regarding response on campus.
- Immediately notify Public Safety supervisory personnel of campus incidents and/or presence of law enforcement, fire or emergency medical services on campus.
- Accurate written documentation of campus incidents
- Maintain training as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as it relates to the Clery Act.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Public Safety or designee.
