About the Role:
As an EMT Dispatcher, you will be responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering critical information, dispatching EMS crews, and ensuring prompt and efficient response to calls for service. This position plays a key role in public safety, patient care coordination, and administrative operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls promptly and professionally.
- Gather necessary information to determine the nature, location, and priority of incidents.
- Dispatch EMTs and ambulances to locations using radio, GPS, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Monitor and coordinate the status and availability of EMS units.
- Maintain accurate records of calls, crew activities, and incident reports.
- Assist in the credentialing process by maintaining and updating staff certifications, licenses, and compliance documentation.
- Support billing functions by accurately documenting transport details and ensuring timely submission of required paperwork and data.
- Communicate with hospitals, healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and emergency services personnel.
- Remain calm, focused, and resourceful in high-stress situations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in dispatch, EMS, billing, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and EMS protocols is a plus.
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with dispatch software, Microsoft Office, and basic computer systems.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including weekends and holidays.
- EMT certification is a plus but not required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching within EMS transportation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
- Proficient in using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS technology.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
