The HR Generalist is an exempt role that will report to the Location HR Manager for our MBTA contract with a dotted line relationship to corporate support, and is responsible for a variety of duties and responsibilities. Travel may be required for hiring events and support efforts on an occasional basis.

- Assist with annual group benefits enrollment, new hire enrollment, onboarding, exit interviews, change of life events, and benefits communications
- Assist employees requesting leave of absence
- Liaise with the Leaves and Benefits teams as appropriate to assist employees
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies
- Address Employee Relations Issues - provide guidance on workplace policies
- Maintain employee status log for all employees for the location
- Perform 30-day touchbases with new employees
- Coordinate annual review processes
- Redirect employee inquiries to appropriate support staff
- Assist employees with ADP items including but not limited to address, contact information, and direct deposit adjustments
- Coordinate responses for employment verifications
- Communicate employee status changes to central HR team
- All other duties as assigned
- Complete pipeline reports to keep direct manager and corporate support aligned to location needs
- Communicate needed postings to regional support for job board maintenance
- Process applicants for open employment roles
- Prepare, maintain, and distribute necessary paperwork to applicants including but not limited to; offer letters, pay rates, incentives and bonuses, and other disclosures as required for hiring purposes.
- Support drivers on ADP and Kronos as as needed
- Enter applicable compliance documents into CPSuite for starting employees
- Communicate class lists with the Training Department
- Communicate employee statuses and/or disqualifications during the hiring process to applicable teams
- Liaise with various support teams to resolve employee concerns related to hiring, payroll, benefits, and leave of absence
- Provide and return applicable Union paperwork for eligible employees
- Participate in recruitment calls with corporate team
- Lead hiring events, as required
- All other related duties as assigned
- Computer literacy including but not limited to use of email, spreadsheets, word processing, and electronic office equipment
- Must be engaging, patient, and personable, with strengths in compassion, empathy, and teamwork
- Must be detail-orientated and very organized
- Excellent written and verbal communications (multiple languages an asset)
- Ability to complete reports on daily, weekly, monthly, or other time-specific basis
- Ability to multi-task and respond to various tasks as they are assigned
- Working knowledge of the internet
- Experience with Google Workplace a plus
- Experience working with Union employee groups preferred
- Must be able to sit for extended periods at a desk computer station
- Must be able to model physical performance requirements for driver applicants
- May be required to stand for limited periods of time to present for groups
- Limited walking, pushing, pulling, or reaching expected for this role
Hard Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 Years Experience at a middle to large size company
- Bachelors in HR Administration
