Job Overview:
The After School Teacher is responsible for providing supervision, guidance, and enrichment activities for children in the after-school program. The role involves ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where children can participate in creative activities, and develop social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times. Maintain a positive and secure environment during after-school hours.
- Activity Planning & Implementation: Design and lead age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, group games, outdoor play, bible lessons, and STEM activities. Create opportunities for creative expression and social development.
- Homework Assistance: Provide support for children in completing their homework, helping them understand tasks, and encouraging responsibility and time management.
- Behavior Management: Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment by guiding children's behavior and resolving conflicts as needed.
- Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns. Provide daily or weekly updates as needed.
- Individual & Group Support: Offer individualized support to children with specific needs, whether academic, emotional, or behavioral, and work with children in small groups to encourage collaboration and teamwork.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete daily attendance, incident reports, and any other necessary documentation. Follow all program policies and procedures.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about new teaching strategies, child development practices, and relevant regulations by attending training and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred. Have Basic School Age Care Training Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and safe environment that promotes learning and growth.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain organized in a fast-paced setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 3pm to 6pm
Compensation:
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
