Self Contained Special Education Teacher
Minimum qualifications :
NJDOE Elementary Certificate,CE, CEAS or Limited CE in N-3, K-6 or P-8 or Certificate of Eligibility
NJDOE Students with Disabilities Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility
Student Population : Includes classified students in the following areas : SLD, Mild CI, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Duties and responsibilities :
- Provide educational support of a diverse student population with varying needs.
- Understanding of the principles classroom management.
- Management of effective use of aides / paraprofessionals.
- Provide individualized and specialized instruction for students who receive Special Education Services
- Experience in Self-Contained Autism / ABA Class Preferred
- Experience in teaching special education students with moderate to severe developmental disabilities (Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ODD, Emotional Regulation, Learning Disabilities, etc.)
- Knowledge of appropriate teaching strategies and reinforcement procedures, techniques used to address and deal with behavior and communication disorders (e.g. Applied Behavior Analysis, Positive Behavior Supports)
- Responsible for direct instruction, collaboration with CST, teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and administration
