Primary Responsibilities And Duties
- Engine Room Operations:
- Observe and assist the engineering crew in the daily operation of the ship's engine room.
- Gain familiarity with the propulsion system, auxiliary engines, generators, pumps, etc.
- Learn about the ship’s fuel and lubrication systems
- Perform routine checks on engine machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Maintenance & Repairs:
- Observe and assist with preventive maintenance tasks on engines, generators, pumps, and other mechanical systems.
- Participate in routine cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machinery and equipment.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all Company safety protocols and regulations in the engine room and on the vessel.
- Participate in safety drills, including firefighting, abandon ship drills, and emergency response exercises
- Enrollment in a recognized Maritime Academy or similar institution with a focus on Marine Engineering.
- A high degree of safety awareness and the ability to follow safety procedures.
- Valid Merchant Mariner Credential, USCG Medical Certificate (for fitness to work at sea) and TWIC
- The cadet must be prepared for 12 hr. shift work, working days/nights.
