What will I do?
- Manage and develop a team of employees, engage in meaningful conversations, build trusted relationships and provide the resources, feedback, and development opportunities they need to be successful
- Manage the work of our contracted service staff, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently, and that events runs smoothly, consistently, meet client needs and are in line with our high standards
- Ensure all roles, duties and stations are assigned to all servers ensuring they are knowledgeable about the event, menus, room layout and expectations, and ensure the banquet area is clean, organized and maintained at all times
- Foster open communication with team members by planning and facilitating pre-event meetings and educating team members on products and processes in the department
- Maintain updated knowledge of hospitality and food service industry trends and implement new ideas
- Provide pre-event support including creating lists of needs and ensuring all supplies are pulled and ready for use
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and staffing needs, evaluating service levels and finding ways to continuously improve collaboration, efficiency and guest experience
- Evaluate financial reports make recommendations and implement continuous improvements that decrease expenses and increase profitability
- 2 or more years of experience in a hospitality/event planning role
- Experience coordinating events and leading banquets
- Enthusiasm for and knowledge of relevant food and beverage products and services
- Experience prioritizing and delegating the work of others
- Comfortability speaking with external vendors on behalf of Wegmans
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing vendor relationships
- Experience managing and developing a team in a restaurant, hotel or country club environment
- Experience working at large-scale events
