The Advanced Engine Technologies Researcher will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of cutting-edge next generation powertrains for OBD and OBM genset manufacturing sector. Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development on advanced OBD and OBM detection and technologies for next generation powertrains.
- Design and execute test plans, including summary plan descriptions for various engine components.
- Utilize simulation modeling and software tools, such as Matlab Simulink, to analyze engine performance under different conditions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate findings into the design and manufacturing processes.
- Manage workflow and project timelines to ensure timely delivery of research outcomes.
Skills:
The required skills, such as test design and simulation modeling, are essential for developing effective research methodologies that yield accurate results. Proficiency in simulation software like Matlab Simulink allows the researcher to create detailed models that predict engine behavior under various scenarios. Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles is applied daily to analyze and enhance engine efficiency. Additionally, managing workflow ensures that research projects progress smoothly and meet deadlines, fostering collaboration among team members. Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CFD software ( CONVERGE, ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM , OpenFOAM, or similar tools)
- Proven experience in engine performance analysis and testing methodologies.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, combustion processes and heat transfer as they relate to system performance
- Experience with mesh generation, model setup, and post-processing of CFD results.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and attention to detail skills
- Excellent communication skills to effectively present technical results and concepts
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with multi-physics simulations involving combustion, heat transfers etc
- Knowledge of CAD tools (CREO, CATIA, SolidWorks) and integration with CFD software
- Working knowledge of structural FEA, GT-Suite and or Simulink
- Experience with continuous emissions monitoring and regulatory compliance
- Previous experience with the genset industry
