Duties/Responsibilities
The Special Projects Producer is responsible for working with the ABC57 news team to come up with longform projects to showcase our award-winning journalism. Examples include producing investigative stories, 30-60 minute specials, and our ABC57 Kickoff and Tipoff shows. This person should be a visionary who takes ownership of tasks, but also has the ability to collaborate with a team. The ideal candidate has experience producing daily newscasts and other content like PKGs or segments. They should also be well-versed in current events and sports. - Participating in editorial planning meetings
- Writing and producing special broadcasts on a variety of news and sports topics
- Working with our Investigates team to publish investigative stories
- Producing our Kickoff and Tipoff broadcasts during football and basketball season
- Traveling for broadcasts when needed or producing in the field
- Keeping track of our best work for awards submissions
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License
- Must have a four-year college degree
- Previous work experience as a news producer
- Strong writing skills and a command of the English language
- Must be able to attend work in-person and be flexible with schedule changes
- Ability to create and follow deadlines
