Position Summary

This role is primarily responsible for negotiating a variety of contract types, including basic science industry sponsored research agreements (SRAs), service agreements (SAs), confidentiality agreements (CDAs), data use agreements (DUAs), material transfer agreements (MTAs), consulting agreements and amendments. This role will also ensure that the proposed terms and conditions, budgets, and corresponding obligations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policy.

This position requires strong oral and written communication ability to properly represent the WCM brand and support the WCM research community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and approves SRAs, MTAs, DUAs, CDAs, research related service and consulting agreements, and amendments according to institutional policy.
  • Ensures contract budgets and contract related documentation adhere to institutional policy and practice.
  • Responsible for meeting contract performance based metrics while maintaining a large contract portfolio across assigned departments. Departmental assignment may include contract management at international performance sites.
  • Coordinates with and seeks advisement from subject matter experts and other departments to ensure appropriate contract language for specific research projects.
  • Collaborates via phone, email and in-person meetings with investigators and their staff and adheres to WCM's high service level agreement response times.
  • Serves as the liaison between sponsors and WCM for research administration and compliance with contractual terms and obligations.
  • Enters contract negotiations and correspondences into WCM electronic enterprise resource systems.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of internal contracting policies and procedures.
  • Develops and assists with educational programs presented to faculty and department administration.
  • Generates ad hoc reports, participates on special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Experience

    Approximately 2-4 years of related experience, with at least 1 year of experience negotiating CTAs or work in clinical research contracting.

    Strong understanding of contract negotiations and / or healthcare knowledge and research administration.

    Knowledge of research integrity policy (Conflicts of Interest, IRB, DSMB, IBC, IACUC, etc.) a plus.

    Possession of a juris doctorate or advanced degree is highly desired.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, complex environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
