Position Summary

Leads the delivery of various undergraduate medical education programs through coordination of staff, implementation of educational sessions, coordinating assessments and conducting post-implementation reviews in addition to general administrative operational support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day of department's undergraduate educational offerings, including the Advanced Emergency Medicine Sub-Internship Program, EM Clerkship and electives offered to medical students.
  • Contributes to curricular development by understanding and providing guidance with medical school requirements / policies / procedures and logistical considerations.
  • Engages and advises faculty leadership and administration, obtaining critical decisions and guidance, and ensuring continuous departmental and organizational commitment.
  • Communicates directly with Foundational and Clinical Curriculum Managers from the Medical School for faculty teaching assignments and records and tracks to ensure that EM faculty teaching obligations have been met each academic year.
  • Reviews all visiting student applications in AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities system for visiting medical students for the sub-internship program (~250 year) and distributes eligible applications to the course director.
  • Conducts post-implementation reviews of departmental education offerings to ensure plan objectives are met evaluating successes and areas for improvement. Identifies process improvement opportunities.
  • Communicates with the Clinical Skills Center regarding scheduling of standardized patients and training for telemedicine courses.
  • Coordinates the Healthcare Leadership and Management Scholars Program including applications, scholar selection, scheduling, curriculum maintenance and distribution, and other duties as needed.
  • Regularly communicates with the registrar's office regarding new policies and procedures for medical students and elective registration.
  • Participates in medical education research projects in conjunction with the Vice-Chair of Education and Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine.
  • Coordinates processes surrounding student elective programs. Assists with eligibility, registration, scheduling and / or the expansion and creation of new elective courses.
  • Visits affiliated clerkship sites to observe and review clinical activities.
  • Manages any additional or new undergraduate medical education program as it is developed.
  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience

    Approximately 2-4 years of prior experience in education and medical education.

    Familiarity with IRB research studies, RedCAP research database, and proper research protocols.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and demands, establish priorities and work effectively in a deadline driven environment; accuracy and attention to detail in the performance of duties is of critical importance.
  • Excellent analytical, organization and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of project management tools, methods, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor others.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to participate as a team member and work independently, with limited supervision.
  • Ability to use judgment, tact and discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications.
