Position Title: Clinical Director, Weill Cornell Medicine Student Mental Health
Location: NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell on Manhattan’s Upper East Side
Position Overview:
Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry is seeking an innovative, academically driven Clinical Psychologist to lead the Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) Student Mental Health Program. This full-time role combines leadership with clinical service delivery, offering a balance of 30% administrative and 70% clinical responsibilities. The Clinical Director will oversee a multidisciplinary team, shape initiative-taking mental health programming, and ensure that our services effectively support the well-being of medical and graduate students.
The ideal candidate will bring both clinical expertise and a passion for student mental health, developing strategies to enhance the mental health infrastructure for the student population at WCMC.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and support staff to deliver comprehensive, high-quality mental health services.
· Develop and implement efficient operational models for intake, triage, and clinical workflows, maximizing available resources and referral options.
· Track program utilization, analyze outcomes and trends, and report findings to leadership.
· Innovate and oversee preventative and educational programming focused on mental health awareness, resilience, and wellness.
· Contribute to the development of physician and scientist training programs that promote intrapersonal and interpersonal skills to help students cope with the stresses of medical and graduate education.
· Provide short-term, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions tailored to students’ unique needs.
· Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to support student well-being across the institution.
· Mentor junior staff and trainees, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
· Assist with tracking productivity targets and operational metrics.
· Serve as a liaison to administrative leadership on mental health initiatives.
· Develop protocols for assessing and approving students returning to school after a mental health-related leave.
· Onboard new clinicians and integrate them into the team effectively.
· Create and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as wait times and service utilization through data dashboards.
· Work closely with university and hospital administration to proactively address and support the mental health of the student population.
Minimum Requirements:
· PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology
· New York State Psychology License (or eligibility)
· A minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience, preferably in academic or healthcare settings
· Demonstrated administrative and leadership experience, including managing multidisciplinary teams
· Proven ability to develop and manage mental health programs, particularly in academic or medical settings
· Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, etc.)
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse student populations
· A commitment to fostering student wellness and mental health in an academic environment
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working with medical students or graduate students or in an academic healthcare setting
· Experience in program evaluation, research, or the development of mental health curricula
· Familiarity with the unique challenges faced by medical students and graduate learners
Salary:
Minimum/maximum salary: $190,000

The salary range listed is for full‐time employment not including bonuses, clinical incentive compensation, or benefits. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, specialty, training, and hospital/community needs.
The above salary range for New York City based roles represents WCM’s good faith and reasonable compensation estimate at the time of posting.
Position Start Date: Immediate or as soon as credentialing is complete (approximately 4 months).
