Position Summary

Transports the MMU to and from the parking area to all designated community locations. Sets up and breaks down the MMU for operation. Supports the practice in an administrative capacity when not driving. This is a non-exempt position with no supervisory responsibility.

Job Responsibilities

Operates and drives the mobile medical unit. Follows and enforces all Hospital policies and procedures related to operation of the mobile medical unit. Ensures the safety of employees while transporting them to and from designated locations.

Responsible for observing their immediate surroundings and reporting all accidents and incidents to the leadership. Completes required incident report pertinent to any or all accidents or incidents.

Maintains a clean and safe vehicle. Coordinates with WCM staff or contracted workers to make certain the vehicle receives routine maintenance and service.

Ensures vehicle is equipped with plenty of water , gas and other materials or supplies as appropriate; brings vehicle for water pump-outs and fueling as needed.

Audits vehicle to ensure safety and operational efficiency prior to and return of vehicle from parking area. Submits a Pre- trip report to the leadership.

Collects, reports, stores, and assists clients with inquiries for lost and found articles. Assembles and collapses MMU materials and physical structures at community locations.

Supports the practice in an administrative capacity including greeting patients and facilitating patient flow through the MMU when not driving.

Participates in applicable training and instructional sessions as required. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Experience

Previous experience as a MMU driver, school bus driver, shuttle driver, or other large vehicle driver in populated city environment.

Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all Hospital policies and security procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bilingual in Spanish, Chinese, Creole, or American Sign Language (Preferred)

Ability to read, write and interpret documents and generate reports when hospital passengers raise a security related issue.

Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, visitors, and patients.

Licenses and Certifications

Motor Vehicle Department CDL (Class B)

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

Ability to work in surroundings with degree of dust, noise, odors, etc. without undue discomfort.

Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch.

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time at desk or temporary assignments to perform department work related functions.

May be exposed to mechanical / electrical / radiant / explosive / burn and chemical hazards.

May be required to handle, dispose of and / or identify hazardous waste and hazardous materials.

May be required to operate and clean department equipment.

May be required to work both indoor / outdoor under extreme temperatures or be reassigned a temporary assignment within the security department

May be required to handle reasonably heavy weights across distances.

May be required to operate heavy vehicles.
