Purpose of Role: The Maintenance Planner must provide support for Newton’s maintenance and reliability efforts by performing planning, requisitioning of materials and services and coordination of future maintenance plans and projects. To be successful in this role, the following qualities are critical: maintain integrity with all daily activities, have great time-management skills and be able to act without guidance. They must also exhibit skills in building & maintaining strong relationships both internally & externally. The ideal candidate is both approachable & respectful, an advanced user of computer systems, understand CMMS practices, virtual meeting platforms and scheduling systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain solid fundamental preventative and predictive schedules in the CMMS
- Collaborate with all departments to translate work requirements into clear achievable plans
- Work directly with maintenance, storeroom and purchasing to plan and prioritize maintenance work
- Plans maintenance tasks as well as shutdowns and other project work
- Maintains physical insurance records, maintenance work instructions, maintenance MII’s, radio license records, and annual PCB reports
- Prepares job plans for maintenance work in the mill, with safety instructions and special precautions
- Participate in the approval work request process and the weekly partner meeting with operations
- Coordinates with purchasing, storeroom and vendors to ensure parts availability
- Maintains maintenance and equipment records and generates reports; i.e. compliance reports, open work orders, past due work orders, completed work orders, labor utilization by work order type, equipment historical cost analysis, etc.
- Tracks availability of crew resources
- Provides job estimates as required
- Coordinates and prioritizes planning and maintenance work with production requirements
- Coordinate the PDM results, use results for planning of required maintenance
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
- 5 years working in a manufacturing environment as a Millwright, Electrician, or other equivalent technical trade
- Demonstrated understanding of company safety policies and expectations
- Ability to read blueprints and some drafting
- Strong PC operation and experience (Word, Access, Excel, Preventive Maintenance Systems, etc)
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent listening, written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to make decisions and maintain composure in high-pressure situations
- Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment
- Willing to work anytime as required to meet mill needs including nights, weekends and holidays if necessary
- Experience with CMMS Maintenance systems
Education:
- Maintenance background in both electrical and mechanical trades
- Associates degree and above preferred, High School diploma required.
- Previous experience with CMMS systems (currently EAM)
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
