Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:
- Ensures that Weir’s accounting policies are executed in a proactive control environment
- Responsible for the effective execution of month, quarter and year end close processes in close partnership with Weir Business Services team
- Leads collaboration with key stakeholders, including senior level cross-Weir entities business colleagues, both accounting authorities/auditors and Weir local entity/group financial reporting and accounting
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for related policies and processes, supports productivity objectives and continuous improvement, process changes and leading practices to have an efficient and effective process
- Sets clear strategic vision for regional finance and accounting teams, ensuring alignment with WBS strategy and communicates to all staff and key customers
- Drives and monitors improvements to sustain a highly effective and efficient accounting and reporting process, and realizes cost reduction opportunities including areas to harmonize and standardize processes
- Create a team culture of continuous improvement, process optimization, and intellectual
- Lead the execution of remedial actions identified by either internal or external audit findings
- Transformation: Leads the transformation of Weir’s Regional Finance and Accounting to a centralized and standardized environment
- Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in finance/accounting required, CPA or Master’s degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of ten years of progressive financial accounting and/or audit experience, preferably in a manufacturing company.
- Excellent knowledge of standard cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Lean principles.
- Comprehensive organization, oral and written communication, motivation, human relations, records keeping, problem-solving and follow-through skills.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Ability to promote and maintain positive relationships.
- Mid-range ERP system knowledge (SAP) preferred.
