Job Details
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team at Weirton Medical Center in West Virginia.
As a member of our Float Pool team, you will have the opportunity to float to multiple units of varying acuity levels, including the Emergency Department (ED) and Critical Care Unit (CCU), if within your skillset.
The units you may be assigned to include:
- Critical Care Unit (CCU)
- Intensive Monitoring Care (IMC)
- Medical-Surgical Level 7
- Medical-Surgical Level 8
- Skilled Care
- Emergency Department (ED)
You will care for patients with various diagnoses, including:
- NSTEMI
- Pneumonia
- Sepsis
- Diabetes
- Heart Disease
- Diverticulitis
To be successful in this role, you should have 5 years of experience, preferably with 1 year of ICU or ED experience.
Job Requirements
Required certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS (if working in CCU or ED)
You must be comfortable taking patient ratios from 1:2-10 and have experience in managing critical drips if working in ED or CCU.
Schedule Information
Self-scheduling with 3 12-hour shifts per week. Travelers submit their ideal schedule, but nothing is finalized until balanced. Schedule is made out for 4 weeks at a time.
You will be required to work every other weekend and may be asked to participate in holiday rotation.
Unit Specific Information
Each unit has varying patient ratios:
- CCU - 1:2-3
- IMC - 1:4-6
- MS Level 7 - 1:5-6
- MS Level 8 - 1:5-8
- Skilled Care - 1:8-10
- ED - TBD
Additional Details
You will be expected to read and interpret telemetry strips and attend 1 day of orientation and 1 day with a preceptor before working independently.
