- Reports to: Vice President, Pre-Construction
Lead, prepare, and complete all aspects of construction cost estimates for large multi-family, senior living, student housing, and hospitality projects. Apply your detail orientation and extensive knowledge of all trades in a fast-paced environment. Lead projects through the pre-construction process from concept to contract.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Assign bid team responsibilities based on team member capabilities and current capacity
- Establish and manage bid schedules
- Ensure bid team members are focused on the most important priorities throughout the bid cycle
- Participate with team to build and implement win strategies for competitive bids
- Lead pre-bid meetings and bid strategy meetings
- Foster a collegial, equitable, and inclusive environment in the workplace
- Support associate development with mentoring and learning plans
- Act on teaching and training opportunities
- Review drawings and specifications to determine scope of work
- Complete accurate quantity takeoffs using OnScreen Takeoff
- Prepare detailed conceptual estimates incorporating project parameters, historical data, and subcontractor input
- Solicit subcontractors/suppliers to ensure proper bid coverage
- Distribute project documents to interested bidders
- Forge new subcontractor relationships
- Assess subcontractor capabilities and qualifications and ensure subs complete pre-qualification processes
- Review, analyze, and level subcontractor bids
- Communicate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders
- Participate in client interviews and presentations
- Capture opportunities for value engineering to achieve client goals
- Research new techniques/ideas/products to benefit the project
- Develop schedules, logistics plans, and general conditions estimates in consultation with operations teams
- Perform additional assignments as directed
- Understand client expectations and the client relationship
- Work with design-build and design-assist trade partners to ensure project and system performance criteria and client expectations area achieved
- Prepare and manage pre-construction schedules to ensure design, estimating, entitlement/permitting, and related processes align to drive earliest possible construction start
- Lead plan reviews, estimate reviews, and operations hand-off meetings
- Positively promote Weis Builders to the outside community
- Promote the Weis Way with clients, associates, and vendors
- Implement company policies and procedures
- Offer and implement ideas for improvements in systems and processes

Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- Minimum five (5) years professional experience in construction, with at least three (3) years of estimating experience

- Technical Skills - applies proficiency with software including but not limited to OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam Revu, Excel, Word, Outlook, and BuildingConnected
- Majority of job performed in an office environment
- Occasional travel required to visit upcoming jobsites for estimating purposes
