Responsibilities:
- Operate Cranes and Hoists: Proficiently operate cranes and hoists to transport materials within the recycling facility, ensuring safe and efficient handling at all times.
- Material Handling: Safely load and unload materials from trucks and containers using cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment, following proper procedures and protocols.
- Equipment Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of cranes and hoists, identifying any issues or defects and addressing them promptly to maintain operational integrity.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance tasks on cranes and hoists, including lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs, to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of equipment inspections, maintenance activities, and material handling operations, documenting all relevant information for record-keeping purposes.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA regulations, to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
Requirements and Skills:
- Experience: Proven experience as a crane operator, preferably in a recycling or manufacturing environment, with a demonstrated ability to operate various types of cranes safely and efficiently.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of crane operation principles and equipment maintenance procedures, with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform basic repairs as needed.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy loads, work in confined spaces, and perform repetitive tasks, demonstrating physical strength, endurance, and agility.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and situational awareness, enabling precise execution of tasks and safe handling of materials in dynamic work environments.
- Certifications: Possession of a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and relevant certifications such as NCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) are preferred.
