What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Accountant position at Weitzman?
Weitzman is the most respected provider of retail real estate services in Texas. Our team provides a full range of services, including general brokerage, property management, asset management, and development services. We operate exclusively in Texas major markets: Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.
Weitzman is recruiting an experienced Staff | Property Accountant for our Dallas/Uptown office. This position has a hybrid work environment with a rotating schedule of working remotely and in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare all property management financial reports on individual assets.
- Record the fair value adjustment for investments in real estate and debt.
- Record equity in earnings for joint ventures
- Produce monthly financial statements.
- Interact with other property accountants, property managers and asset managers.
- Record and reconcile financial information.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual client reports.
- Prepare annual cash audit work papers.
- Prepare internal and external performance returns.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for checking accounts.
- Calculate and prepare statements of cash flows.
- Full general ledger experience through financial statement preparation and review
- Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, management fees, and lender escrow accounts
- Bank statement reconciliations
- Review of accounts payable and receivables for a portfolio, including cash management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate in a high-volume environment.
- Accrual basis accounting experience a plus
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to meet assigned deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate and build positive rapport with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as outside the company.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic
- Accounting or Finance Degree preferred minimum 12 hours of accounting required
