Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our ground transport team dispatching out of the MatSu Valley area. The EMT will provide high-quality medical care to patients with various levels of acuity while providing interfacility transports. The ideal candidate will possess strong assessment skills, a thorough understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to perform care within the scope of their licensure. This role requires quick thinking, effective communication, and a commitment to patient safety.
Duties
- Respond to calls for service immediately and without delay
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the nature and extent of care needed.
- Administer basic life support measures, including CPR, oxygen therapy, and wound care.
- Transport patients safely while providing continuous care during transit.
- Show compassion and professionalism at all times with all customer and patient care contacts
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in hospitals and health care settings for effective patient management.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient information and treatment provided.
- Ensure all medical equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in emergency medical care.
Requirements
- Valid EMT certification from an accredited program and current licensure in the State of Alaska.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to patient care.
- Proficiency in performing vital signs checks, patient assessments, triage, and using durable medical equipment (DME).
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations .
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record and have passed or the ability to pass an EVOC course to drive the ambulance
- Must be 25.5 years old (this is an insurance requirement for operating the ambulance)
