About the role


We are looking for a Data Scientist who is passionate about their craft and the impact their work can have. Youre someone who thrives on solving complex problems through data and understands the importance of a customer-first mindset. In this role, youll work across the entire data stack to design and implement solutions that improve our products and provide meaningful impact to our users.

As our first data hire, youll have the autonomy and responsibility to build foundational systems. Your contributions will directly shape our data strategy and empower our team to help tens of thousands of front-line workers and improve the quality of life of millions of seniors.

What you will be working on


  • Drive Key Decisions: Apply analytical, statistical, and technical skills to uncover insights that guide business strategies, product decisions, and actions
  • Build Scalable Data Systems: Design and implement efficient data pipelines and warehouses to collect, organize, and manage diverse sets of structured and unstructured data
  • Develop Predictive Solutions: Build, train, deploy, and fine-tune machine learning models to predict outcomes, optimize workflows, and improve product functionality
  • Enable Personalization: Design and implement recommendation systems that analyze user data to deliver tailored actions
  • Track and Evaluate Performance: Define, monitor, and analyze critical product performance indicators to assess the impact of new and existing features
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product managers, software developers, and other stakeholders to integrate and enhance data-driven processes within our existing systems
  • Communicate Insights: Present complex findings in clear, non-technical formats to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring they translate into actionable outcomes
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Creating clear documentation for data pipelines, models, and workflows to ensure the team can maintain and expand on the work
  • Work Autonomously: Take ownership of projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and deliver high-impact results that align with the companys mission in a fast-paced, startup environment

What you bring


  • Experience: 3 years of experience in data science, with a proven track record of building and deploying machine learning models and data pipelines in a startup ambiguous environment
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SQL, Python (or similar languages), and cloud platforms like AWS, with extensive experience in ML and LLM frameworks for handling both structured and unstructured data
  • Scalable and Cost-Efficient Design: Proven ability to design data systems and pipelines that scale seamlessly with increasing data volume and user base while optimizing for cost efficiency
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to analyze complex datasets, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable insights that drive product and business outcomes
  • Collaboration: Proven experience working closely with product managers, software developers, and other stakeholders to align data processes with business goals
  • Communication: Excellent ability to present technical findings in simple, clear, and impactful ways to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Autonomy: A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment, capable of owning projects and delivering high-impact results with minimal oversight
  • Customer First Mentality: Curious, thoughtful, and solution-oriented; you are a skilled problem-solver and always driven to understand what is important to the customer
  • Problem-Solving: A creative and curious approach to tackling problems, with a focus on customer-first solutions
  • Documentation: Commitment to maintaining clear and organized documentation to ensure scalability and knowledge sharing
