As Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, and services at favorable terms for the organization. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information. This senior-level position contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project that involve critical thinking and problem solving. Responsibilities may include managing projects / processes, working independently with limited direction. May provide coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

Reporting directly to the Purchasing manager, this position is based in Shreveport, LA.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Obtains goods/services required by the organization including Direct and Indirect Operations (e.g., Production Parts, Office Supplies, etc.).
  • Procurement processes include Product/Service Sourcing, Order Processing, and Supplier Performance Management. May include Strategic Sourcing

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate purchasing activities to support production and MRP forecasted demand.
  • Monitors the quality and timeliness of materials and goods supplied; follows up the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery to schedule requirements; and communicates status of orders with internal customers.
  • Identify critical components that material deviations may be required and coordinate with Engineering support to maintain production schedule.
  • Process engineering material change orders to support production and at least negative cost impact.
  • Evaluate non-conformances of direct material to determine disposition and coordinate with Quality Control return of product to vendor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience in supply chain, general business or related field

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in using procurement software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.

Physical requirements:

  • Normal office environment must be able to sit for long periods of time.
