Position Summary
The Production Inventory Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and flow of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods within our manufacturing operations. This position ensures that production schedules are supported by precise inventory data and efficient material movement in a food-grade environment that values safety, quality, and efficiency.
Where You'll Work
This role will be based out of our plant location in Grandview, WA.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records for ingredients, packaging materials, WIP (work-in-progress), and finished goods.
- Track and report daily production quantities, material consumption, and scrap using Welch's ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
- Coordinate timely delivery of materials to production lines, minimizing downtime and optimizing space.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories; reconcile discrepancies and report findings.
- Issue production work orders and record transactions for material issuance and product completion.
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, warehouse, and procurement teams to support scheduling and inventory accuracy.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP protocols, and other food safety regulations.
- Support inventory audits and assist in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inventory turnover and reduce waste.
- Ensure inventory records reflect FIFO (First In, First Out) practices and proper lot traceability.
- Generate inventory reports and dashboards for use by plant and corporate leadership.
- A proven leader who understands and shows ownership of their own duties as well as a broad sense of ownership of the performance of their department, plant, and company. To be an ambassador of Welch's up and down the chain of command.
- A proactive leader who takes the tactical and strategic steps to improve overall safety, quality, food safety, and plant performance. A leader who is dedicated to improving themselves, others, and the company. -
- A team player who has the interpersonal skills to manage relationships within the plant, as well as provide feedback to team members in an effective and respectful manner.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or certification in Supply Chain Management or Business preferred.
- 2 years of inventory control experience in a food manufacturing or beverage production environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with GMP, food safety standards, and warehouse safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts, as needed based on production demands.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in cold or hot production areas.
- Manual dexterity to operate computers, scanners, and inventory devices.
