What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Supervisor position at Welcome House, Inc?
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Residential Supervisor works in cooperation with residential and program staff to ensure that staff are knowledgeable and providing client services as required per each client’s ISP.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have High School diploma or GED. At least one year of experience in IDD or other related social services field.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Age 21 or older
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and safely lift, turn, position and transfer individuals with physical disabilities.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must have solid computer skills and understanding of MS Word, Excel and e-mail.
- Must have strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
- Must demonstrate integrity and ability to lead others.
- Must have a belief in and understanding of agency’s mission and culture and ability to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission and values to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prepare basic meals (read and follow recipe).
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid Ohio driver’s license with four points or less, and auto insurance.
- Must have satisfactory health, background check and drug test.
- Attendance is a required and essential expectation of the job.
- Must obtain CBTLA within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to obtain med-pass certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must provide proof of unexpired CPR/First Aid certification or complete CPR/ First Aid certification during Welcome House orientation. Staff are not permitted to provide direct care unless they have current CPR/First Aid certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Services:
- Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the assigned site including ensuring immediate client health & safety needs and staffing/supervision levels are provided (ensure schedules are maintained and updated as needed).
- Maintain up to date knowledge of all client’s ISPs—including all medical, psychiatric, behavioral, nutritional, social and physical needs and ensure that staff are adhering to each ISP. Provide info to DRS in preparation for ISP process and ensure new/revised ISP is implemented and staff are trained.
- Ensure that each client has ample opportunity to get involved in their community and that community activities are planned and executed by staff
- Review client documentation including UIR’s, Brittco, HPCs, and HRST.
- Ensure all UIRs are reported timely and completed accurately by staff.
- Assist in the UIR and MUI investigation process.
- Assist with client admissions/discharges.
- Meal preparation for residents and with specific residents as applicable.
Team Communication:
- Communicate information pertinent to client services, training topics and/or Welcome House policy or procedure to staff at site.
- Directly communicate with DRS on needs that must be addressed for changes made to ISP as needed.
- Ensure appropriate communication systems are in place between home and Day/Activity programs.
Medical:
- Ensure med cart is appropriately stocked and includes all prescribed physician’s orders; pursuing medication refills and/or new prescriptions as needed
- Oversee medication administration and MAR documentation, ensuring clients are receiving proper medications and medication changes are implemented timely and without error
- Manage monthly MAR changeover from pharmacy, ensuring all meds are accounted for and available
- Monitor client acute and chronic medical needs and pursue necessary treatment or guidance
- Schedule and run client psychiatric appointments and other appointments that require specialized knowledge of individual as needed
- Ensure healthy food options are available/provided and client diet orders are followed
Financial:
- Manage each client’s banking—including personal billing, bank transactions, client budgeting & receipts.
- Plan weekly menus and shop accordingly within household budget.
Staff Training & Oversight:
- Train new staff members on client-specific and house-specific information, providing hands-on instruction & demonstration and utilizing appropriate forms & training materials
- Compile billing forms and ensure staff have put correct times on sign in sheet before submitting them.
- Ensure staff CBTLA are completed and turned in with billing.
- Take call offs and schedule fill-ins.
- Monitor staff documentation completion and address concerns with staff responsible and communicate issues to DRS.
- Document issues pertaining to staff corrective action and give information to DRS to address.
- Give input into yearly evaluation process.
- Set up and coordinate staff meetings quarterly and as needed including agenda and training attachments.
- Participate in the on-call rotation.
Home Management:
- Ensure that site is in compliance with all regulations—including fire drills, severe weather drills, crisis and emergency plans. Document accordingly and maintain those documents as required.
- Ensure site is equipped to handle emergencies and stocked with appropriate supplies/kits and that each staff person is trained on their use.
- Ensure all fire exits/pathways are free and clear of debris, snow, and other safety hazards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
