About the Role:
As Controller (reporting to the VP of Finance), you will own WelcomeHome’s Accounting function, including the preparation of WelcomeHome’s financial statements, cash inflows and outflows through AR & AP, tax, compliance, and documentation, as well as the enforcement of our spend controls (both budgeting & employee expense policy). Your direct reports include a Senior Accountant and an Accounts Receivable Specialist.
Our working team is based in Atlanta - anchored around headquarters in Buckhead. This concentration has yielded tremendous dividends for our growth, client impact, and interpersonal relationships amongst our team. Welcome Home supports remote work (company hybrid optional days are Tuesday & Thursdays) after the initial onboarding period (~3 months of full-time employment).
Key Responsibilities Include:
Financial Operations:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable systems and processes to support growth.
Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
- Recruit and scale the accounting team as the company grows.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial processes and data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and regulatory requirements.
Audit and Tax:
- Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax filings with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective measures as needed.
About You
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual who has worked in a high growth SMB before. A strong candidate might also have:
- An active CPA license
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree in accounting
- Strong GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) knowledge
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience (preferably in a high growth SMB), including at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Experience supervising direct reports
- Proficiency in accounting software (primarily QBO)
- Familiarity with software / SaaS accounting principles
- Exceptional attention to detail & problem-solving ability
