    Salary Range 18 ($105,254-$154,631 based on experience and education)

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
    Required:

    • Valid Colorado Driver's License
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • At least five years of experience in construction management/facility planning and management required
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be evaluated

    Preferred:

    • Bilingual – Spanish
    • Experience in PK-12 school facility planning and project management strongly preferred
    • At least five years of experience in senior management of a multi-level organization preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, facilities planning and management, or related field preferred

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Summary/Objective

    Responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing over 200 staff members housed in the District’s Facility and Support Services Department including building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, custodial services, grounds maintenance, locksmith, security and access control, and facility use. Participate in the creation and maintenance of short and long-term plans for the construction, and renovation of district facilities, maintaining comfortable, safe, and healthy learning environments for students, staff, and community. Assist with the oversight of bond, capital, and general funds including the designing, scheduling, budgeting, and monitoring of projects involving new and existing buildings, building systems, and other site and facility amenities. Develop and maintain effective partnerships with community leaders and businesses including intergovernmental agreements. Provide crisis response management in coordination with multiple jurisdictions and departments. Ensure compliance with district policies and all applicable codes related to facilities. Collaboratively work with other departments and sites.

    Essential Functions

    • Oversee the effectiveness and efficiency of construction and facility projects, providing leadership for activities related to construction and facility planning to include operational programming for district facilities, monitoring of construction, and building code compliance.
    • Manage budgets for all funds associated with facilities operations including capital improvement, providing capital project development, coordination, and management. 3.
    • Monitor department projects, activities, and goals to ensure performance objectives are met within budget and within established operational practices.
    • Provide and maintain building life cycles, cost analysis, replacement schedules, educational guidelines, and technical specifications.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including the Board of Education, administrators, consultants, community members, regulatory agencies, and municipalities.
    • Work with other administrators on facility planning needs, building condition assessments, educational programs, the district’s sustainability management system, and annual reports.
    • Ensure compliance with procurement procedures to ensure accurate and timely accounting in accordance with regulatory requirements and established district policies and guidelines. Work collaboratively with other departments for the selection of architects/engineers, design, and bid processes for school construction and remodels.
    • Facilitate and participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars with planners, architects, contractors, and others for the purpose of representing the school district on all matters of facility planning and construction.
    • Collaborate with internal and external traffic and safety partners to evaluate traffic safety throughout the district.
    • Provide and/or coordinate staff training and professional development. Hire, train, mentor, coach, and conduct evaluations of personnel; mediate conflict resolution and implement disciplinary actions as necessary.
    • Lead district compliance documentation, coordination and inspections. (Health, Fire, PK Licensing, Energy…)

    • Ability to effectively communicate to BOE, superintendent, directors, staff members, contractors, engineers, architects, and community members
    • Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence

    Equipment and Materials Used

    May work with various types of machinery that may produce noise, some levels excessive. May work with fumes or airborne particles. May work in hazardous conditions involving high voltage or high pressure equipment. Maybe work near moving mechanical parts and vibration.

    Physical Demands

    May work in confined spaces. Vision sufficient to perform functions such as identifying materials necessary to complete maintenance on equipment and grounds, and operating vehicles and equipment. Manual dexterity adequate to bend, twist, and reach out to load and unload equipment, supplies or tools. Stamina and strength to move objects 20-70 pounds long distances (100 yards). Alertness at all times to perform duties in a prudent and safe manner. Ability to climb a ladder and to work at heights above six feet. Ability to work in confined spaces. Auditory acuity. Ability to communicate effectively while performing these activities. Visual acuity including close-up vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, adequate peripheral vision and other visual discrimination.

    Physical Demands

    Ability to stand for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
