    Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent Greeley-Evans School District 6 rehires, up to $33.85 per hour plus benefits

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
    Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree, Education, Psychology, Human Services, Social Worker, Counseling, Family Studies, Sociology, Business, Criminal Justice
    • Experience working with high school and college-age students
    • Knowledge of college services, including financial aid and degree completion activities, is a must.
    • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment and also show strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
    • The successful candidate must be willing proficient in the use of technology for work-related activities and be ready to travel.
    • Experience preferred in Community Service and Outreach.
    • Experience with at-risk and culturally diverse populations is preferred.
    • Ability to frequently travel among school district facilities and into the community.
    Preferred:
    • Classroom Teaching Experience.
    • Tutoring, Mentoring, Counseling, Guidance Experience.


    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Summary/Objective: The GEAR UP Family Engagement Specialist facilitates communication with middle and high school students, families, district personnel, and the community to develop a career and college readiness culture through workshops and educational programs, marketing events, sharing of resources through social media platforms, and supporting families through awareness of the social and academic needs of the students and implementing sustainable career and college readiness practices in alignment with the GEAR UP objectives:
    • Increase academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education.
    • Increase high school graduation and postsecondary participation rates.
    • Increase students’ and their families’ knowledge of postsecondary options, preparation, and finance.
    Essential Functions:
    • Develop various educational programs, including, but not limited to, related resources financially/socio-economic disadvantage, and post-secondary opportunities.
    • Coordinate and document outreach events and programs with schools/departments and refer families to resources such as migrant, homeless, and other state, federal, county, and district programs.
    • Work collaboratively with students, parents, and D6/GEAR UP staff to assess student needs, including but not limited to absences, health education, registration, enrollment, assessments, credit attainment, post-secondary goal planning, college visits, industry tours, and other needs in meeting GEAR UP grant objectives.
    • Initiate communication with families who have requested information about post-secondary education and resource referrals to appropriate services such as mental health, migrant and homeless programs.
    • Bilingual in the Spanish language preferred.

    • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. Working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office, google docs, Infinite Campus, and other K-12 systems.

    • Strong writing, organization, computer, presentation skills, and public speaking skills.
    • Strong human relation skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

    • Ability to perform all functions of the position.
    • Experience in classroom management and/or instruction.
    • Greeley GEAR UP Family Emgagement Specialist will complete training First-Aid/CPR to chaperone students on field trips.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Initiative and follow-through.
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
    • Ability to conduct home visits when required.
    • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, District Policies, and building and department procedures.
    • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
    • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.

    Work Environment/ Physical Demands: Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important. Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. Physical and mental abilities sufficient to perfom the essential functions and duties of the position as outlined. Ability to work under stress and strict contraints.
