Field Work - 80%

• Operate tractor-trailer, heavy and light construction, or road maintenance equipment.
• Incumbent may have some lead worker responsibilities.
• Advanced level of heavy equipment operations.
• Must be able to perform work without direction or immediate supervision and follow detailed instruction to aid in the efficient and effective completion of the project or assigned task.
• Must perform work in a courteous and safe manner.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally through radio.
• When contact with the public is required, the employee must maintain a courteous, helpful attitude.
• Must be able to follow instructions from senior employees.

Administration - 10%

Other Duties as Assigned - 10%

High School Diploma / GED

Required Work Experience

2 years operating tractor-trailer and / or heavy equipment operation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have a demonstrated proficiency in any two of the following pieces of equipment : tracked hydraulic excavator, snowplow, bulldozer, truck tractor with belly dump, front end loader, lowboy trailer, scraper, aggregate crushing plant, tandem axle truck, tanker, asphalt paver, backhoe (smaller than a John Deere 510), compaction equipment, skid steer, and motor grader.

Must have a basic familiarity with and experience working with a variety of road construction, maintenance and repair equipment and materials.

Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

Must effectively present information in one-on-one situation with the public, subordinates, and supervisors.

Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply / divide with 10's and 100's. Perform these operations using units of money, weight, measurement, volume and distance.

Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and make appropriate day to day decisions without supervisory guidance to perform assigned tasks.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date.

Candidate must pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date.

This position will participate in random substance use screening.

Licenses and Certifications

Must have or be able to obtain MSHA (new miner or experienced miner) certification (On-the-job certification can be obtained.) within 180 Days Required

Salary : $28 - $36
