Essential Duties:
- Loading and unloading gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers
- Sorting empty cylinders by type
- Rolling cylinders and operating a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders on pallets
- Handling high-pressure, medical and liquid cylinders.
- Performing basic cylinder maintenance such as cleaning, removing old labels and performing minor repairs
- Understanding hazards of gasses, cylinder sizes and contents by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and color-coding of tanks
- Inspecting cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government and Welders Supply standards.
- Filling cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards
- Monitoring and maintaining sufficient stock to meet customer demand
- Complying with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases
- Managing quality control fill records as required
- Other duties as assigned.
- HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one year of prior experience in a manufacturing operation, loading experience preferred
- Background in gas and welding industry or chemical industry preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
- Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong level of attention to detail
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to move compressed gas and liquid cylinders; Lift 50-75 pounds frequently and maneuver 100 pound cylinders (rolling, using a cart, etc.)
- Performing work during prolonged periods of standing (up to eight hours) is necessary
